my guitar collects ALOT of dust. I had the same goals..to be able to pick up a few songs to be able to just sit down and kill an hour or two. I played the drums for 12 years in several bands..cover bands original bands, from classic rock to metallica and slayer "tribute" bands. I always wanted to play guitar though...since I was in the first grade and saw an mtv video with eddie van halen, I wanted to be a guitar god. so 4 years ago, I did a bunch of research and bought a lefty epiphone les paul and took some lessons...yup I sucked hard. I practice almost daily for 2 months and still sucked hard. my instructor told me to try "righty". I said no im a lefty, got up and walked out of the room. so the dream is still there...talent is still not there either though...unless I try righy?
I grew up between Nashville and Memphis. Both towns kick you out if you don't play by the time you're 16. I've been playing for 25 years now. First Fender, then Ibanez, now Paul Reed Smith Singlecuts. Best advice I can give you... Tube. Amp. Sent from my HTCEVOV4G using Tapatalk 2
Tinkered with guitars in college. 3 years ago bought an acoustic, signed on to GuitarTricks.com and taught myself. Advanced beginner at least. Enough to have fun with it. Anyone aware that the family that makes Matthews bows also makes McPherson guitars? Top of the line in both categories.
I rock out like Zakk Wylde on Guitar Hero "Dragon Force," nothing like strumming those green yellows and blues!
A year ago I tuned an old guitar I found laying around by using "Garage Band" on my Mac. There were some lessons on there so i learned a few chords and have learned about 8 so far. I can't walk and chew gum at the same time and there is absolutely no musical talent in my family so I'm pretty much toast. Learning to strum is difficult for me and using the pick is worse. I just go from chord to chord but don't know any songs.
Guitar is the best thing that ever happened to me! I have been at it for almost 24 years! lol I just got the blessing of being sponsored by a custom guitar builder and picked up my latest one It is a manzer wedge style guitar with a k&k trinity pickup system and all kindsa pretty wood!
and this is my other one. its a full OM body with a cocobolo back and sides. Both have a lutz top. they sound unreal. if you need any help or advice, feel free to get a hold of me!
This could be the greatest post in the history of BH.com lol so true! if you want to play electric, nothing can sound better than tubes!
