Pulled a couple cards today. A couple new bucks showed up. Nothing exciting but its good to see some new hard horned bucks. A few more weeks and things will start to get interesting.

Good deal westfinger. It's getting a little quiet in here. Not gonna lie I've been spending more time sifting through the teams who are hunting already more than ours. It's ok though. It's only fair we give them a head start. :tu:

Less than two weeks before deer start falling here. I'm ready to get this season started.

Sorry, I've been pretty quiet. My opener was last weekend but too warm to be hunting. Same story this weekend. My first weekend in the stand will likely be Oct 7th but I'll have to be wearing orange because it's the youth gun hunt weekend.

This is the best deer I have on camera this year. Hoping a couple of the big guys from last year show themselves soon.

Note, I've always made fun of guys who take pictures of their computer screens and now here I am doing it. I must be getting old.[IMG]

So I have a question for everyone. This season I will be hunting with a buddy of mine for the first time. Last year I hunting with him for a weekend of stands that he already had in place. Everything went well and I enjoyed that weekend. This season we will be hunting together more regularly.

Anyway my buddy hunts a lot of different ways from me that I am not used to. For example he likes to just hop in the vehicle and go without preparing or having a plan. He texted me yesterday that he was going to set up some blinds tomorrow with his boy. I said that fine and I'll go with and asked him what to bring. He told me to bring all my hunting stuff. I asked if we are hunting or scouting. He answered "a bit of both". Now to me that's a little crazy. I don't like just grabbing my gear and going. Especially during the middle of the week. I mean it's so early in the season that we are probably going to ruin an area more likely than do good. We also are just walking through a piece of property. No treestands.

Another thing he isn't worried about is scent control. It's tough for me to practice all I can and then he doesn't pay attention to it. He works out of his vehicle (construction) and then doesn't keep his clothing in a tote or anything. Just laying in his vehicle who knows how long. I mean I might as well not practice scent control at all.

I just don't know how to approach him without rubbing him the wrong way. I mean he's a good hunter and has killed a lot of deer but is just a different style.

I hunt the same piece of property with my two brothers, I am hardcore and they are.....well not so much. It's frustrating at times but it is what it is. I do my thing and they do theirs. I've always been more successful and slowly they are picking up on what I do.

Thats a good buck. I'm guilty of doing that. Its so easy to post photos from Tapatalk that way.

Tough situation. For me bowhunting is a solitary pursuit. I enjoy the attention to detail aspect of it and it would drive me nuts to hunt and share a property with someone that approached it that way.

As long as I had some property that was exclusively mine to hunt I could do it.

I'm most likely going to hunt one place with him this year. I have two other locations that I'm hunting where he won't be at so if he ruins some stuff I wouldn't be too disappointed. I guess the issue is compromising and adjusting to his style. I just don't know if I can get used to it.

It's neither of ours. It's actually owned by our bow club. He invited me to hunt with him and before I knew it we had 3 stands up and ready to go. It's a fantastic spot for sure plus it gives me the opportunity to shoot two does in this county.

I would probably try to get him on board with it. May take a little bit but show him all the positives. On a side note do you have instagram because I do believe I just saw your sweet mountain bike on my feed.

That's a tough one. I'm fortunate that my main hunting buddy is on the same page as me EXCEPT......he smokes like a fiend. Not while he's hunting but on the way then he will use wipes on his hands and he does own a scent crusher bag but other than that he is right on same level as me.
As far as your situation I would say he's way far different and he has been successful so he probably won't listen. I have some really good buddies who hunt different than me so I keep my outings with them to once or twice a year.

It's finally looking like a cool down is coming. I hate to hunt when it's warm just in case you got to leave one sit over night.

Thats great! We open the 30th. Not sure I will go out. If I do it will be just to get some intel on the new property.

I can go this weekend but temps will be in the high 80s so I won't be hunting.
