Yea man everyone likes it. Its been that way maybe the last 5years or less? But it's definitely helped the deer in Texas get a little bigger due to the heavy population of hunters across the state.
Everything is returning to normalcy little by little my man. Some areas look like a bomb has been dropped in certain areas with everyone's house gutted and everything put out on the street for trash removal. But waters are finally going down and major roads are pretty much all cleared now! I'm about to work in Mississippi for the next couple weeks on a turnaround at a plant then I come home for the opener of bow season here in Texas!!! This awesome weather right now has me fired up. We are going to the lease tomorrow to check cams and refill feeders!
Good deal, I would like to see the pictures when you have it set up. I don't have any spots like that unfortunately. Most of the field edges are fairly open and wouldn't hide a blind very well. We'll see I may run out there and check some cameras and do some other work but I'm trying to fight that urge.
22 days till our opener! I hope this weather we've been having holds it's pattern. It's been excellent here for the past few weeks.
Did a little trimming, put some more pears out and pulled a couple cards. I did get a little video of one of my potential shooters so I was happy to see him still around. I was hoping he was going to be a little bigger. I have another deer that I'm fairly certain is the same eight point "tips" that has been around the last few years. He really hasn't changed much at all. I have a bunch of pictures here's a couple from 15, 16, and a couple days ago. What do you guys think, same deer? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Went in the bigwoods today. The bike did alright. I'd give it a 5/10. Still need to work out a few things with it but it did save me a half hour of walking so that's good. I get my bigwoods set hung and ready to go. Also had time to check a trail camera and got a couple bucks on camera finally.
First plot we put in 12 days ago. Not bad for last minute. There's quite a bit of tracks in it and I don't have pics yet but my buddy checked a cam we have and said there was 2 small buck sparring in it. We got a ground-blind brushed in. Should be a good morning or evening spot as it's situated smack dab between destination food and bedding. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
went to the lease today... pulled some cards and filled feeders. I only have half the cards that we pulled... waiting on my buddy to let me know about the others on camera. But I did find one of our target bucks that shed his velvet. We got some hard horns here in tx fellas!
Thanks bud! We have him on a few cameras. But this one camera catches him a lot so I know it's not far from his home range. He is still using the scrape so I hope it continues into the season! Also found two nice fresh scrapes today that happened to be in the same place as last year again along with good acorns falling. The season is upon us fellas!!

Yes we let them get used to the black holes and then we wear black when we hunt. It also helps keep it aired out Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Years ago I shot a doe in Northern MN and it ended up not being the best shot. There was lots of blood to begin but then stopped. I trailed her for quite aways not paying attention to where I was heading. That was a mistake I ended up lost as hell. And this was in some very big woods. I shot her in the morning trailed until late afternoon. By dusk I still hadn't found a road and was completely lost and figured I'd be spending the night out there. Right about that time is when a pack of wolves lit up the woods with howls. I almost s&@t my pants especially as they kept howling and kept getting closer. I only had my bow and 2 arrows no gun so I kept walking. I highly doubt they were on my trail but it sure felt like it as it was getting darker out. Now I had no flash light since I was young and dumb and left in the morning and figured I wouldn't need it. Every noise at this point was a wolf attacking I thought. I was pretty much panicking. Then I stumbled on a 2 track trail with a truck coming down it. I stood in the middle and made them stop. Luckily these guys had seen where we were camped earlier and brought me there. I was so turned around that I ended up about 3 miles from where I should've been. Those wolves that night really had me going. Lol Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
