I ordered an Elevation field quiver for 3d shoots off of amazon for 99 cents. Regular price was 69.99. I screen shot the confirmation and receipt but they canceled the order anyway. I tried to argue a little but it didn't work. Went to my local shop and paid the $70

The yetis were a long time coming. I've kicked around the idea of the cabelas or Rtic or Ozark trail knockoff for awhile. All I needed was a nudge and they had a support Hurricane Harvey deal going on. 100% proceeds went to relief and they ended up raising over a million which is awesome. The rest of the stuff was just cause I've been working a crap ton. Time and a half and double time adds up quick! The bad part is I haven't started buying my waterfowl stuff for the season yet :jaw: lol. My wife loves this time of year.

Got 2 more kill plots in the timber and 2 sets hung. Shoulda got more done but the landowner farmer kept wanting to socialize and we fixed a bunch of ruts and a washout for him. lol. Oh well gotta keep the landowner happy it's the least we can do for a free spot to hunt. Back at it tomorrow to get a groundblind in, another stand hung, 2 stands moved, and trim some lanes.

Update on the bigwoods. My buddy checked a couple cams to see what's cooking. One only had does and fawns which isn't bad. The other had 3 different bucks. One that he calls a shooter. I haven't seen it yet so I'll be the judge when I do. Also he sent me this picture. It was 40 yards from one of his cameras. In my opinion I believe it was a bear that killed this year and half doe considering it was buried and super fresh. If it was wolves I doubt we would have found it.

Tomorrow morning bright and early I'll be testing out the public land bike and putting in a stand while taking out the sticks. I plan on checking my cams and then leaving the area until mid October. :tu:

Dang Tim. Looks like a bear kill stash to me too. At least you're getting some pics. all we have so far on the property we run cams on is does and fawns and yearling bucks. It's a rut spot anyway. The occasional buck will cruise through but normally don't start seeing nice bucks till Halloween

That's funny. I killed a buck whose head and ears were so wide that the rack was even with his ears and he had a 17" inside spread lol. His forehead looked like an Angus steers. Hey how's the damage and cleanup going down there by the way Keith?

Yeah this area is big black bear country. Definitely keeps you a little on edge when you are by yourself. But you just deal with it and keep your head on a swivel.

Good deal, heavy equipment makes for light work.

Do many of you guys hunt out of ground blinds? I have a couple but only used one once when I took my GF out on opening day of gun and it was raining.

Actually I do not. I'm not really all that afraid of them. After spending a lot of time in this kind of woods you get used to it. Also I used to talk to Fitz a lot when I started going really deep in the woods. He made me feel better letting me know that he doesn't carry. And we pretty much know how many wolves Fitz runs into. :tu:

They have their place for sure. If an area is real hot and there isn't a good tree we will try to incorporate a blind if possible. They are great for what you mentioned (comfort). Very good option for taking the ladies along or kids so they can be comfortable. And....... you cannot beat a close encounter with deer from the ground. Hands down better than from a tree. But tree stands give better visibility and shot options IMO . :tu:

I guess your familiarity with them makes you more comfortable with them. I don't have much experience with either and wouldn't be comfortable in that situation.

Yeah it's definitely something to get used to. Like I used to be super afraid walking in the dark. Now it just bothers me a little bit. I think one of the scariest parts for me is climbing out of the stand at dark and hearing the wolves howling. That gets the hair stand up on your neck. And think, at that point if I'm not using a flashlight, a side arm wouldn't do me a bit of good if I can't see what I'm shooting at while walking out.

I would like to use them for observation stands for the comfort factor. I have been reluctant to put one up because of how the deer may react to it. I should probably just get one up and brushed in and see what happens. I was reluctant to hunt over a decoy for the same reason and those concerns were all for nothing.
I have taken a couple deer from old school burlap camo ground blinds back in the day. Its definitely and exciting way to hunt esp when it works out and they get close.

:eek2: Thats nuts. I worry about the coyotes getting to my deer if I have to leave it go overnight. I can only imagine what a pack of wolves could do.

I think it's all about incorporating them into existing natural cover. I don't just put them out in the open with brush on them. Although that might work sometimes I think old wise bucks wouldn't be good with that. I'm putting one in tomorrow and I'll post pics of how we do ours. The best way we found to do it is to hollow out a cedar or pine or very thick patch of brush and place the blind right where you cut out. Brush the blind with what we cut out and done
