I do have the XOP sticks. In my opinion they are awesome! I like that they are a little longer than the Lone Wolf, the steps are sloped upward (I feel they are a little safer), the mossy oak finish, they stack together great, and also that they sit a little further from the tree than Lone Wolf. The quality I will admit isn't as nice as Lone Wolf but with the price difference you will expect that. Also they are heavier than Lone Wolf. You would have to determine what are your must haves versus must wants. Do you prefer a high quality stick that is lighter but you can't get as high, or would you prefer a medium grade quality stick that weighs a little more, can reach a little higher, sits away from the tree further, and one that stacks together pretty decent. Either way I don't think you can go wrong with either. I'm 6'3 240 pounds. I prefer the XOP cuz I like the bigger steps and how far they sit away from the tree and they a more affordable. If you want I can take some pictures for you.
Yea some pics would be great. I slipped off my lone wolf steps last year with my rubber boots on. I just haven't been comfortable since especially up high. Luckily it was the first step. I bought a set of hawk helium steps after that slip but don't like how they strap to the tree. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Season in OH starts Sept 30th. I probably won't be out to much until the middle of October but that could change depending on whats going on. I have "Rutcation" Nov 7-15 hopefully I can get it done then. If not the archery season runs until Feb 4th. The late season can present some opportunities if the weather is right.
You will like the xop sticks better for stability. They are solid. Heavier than the lonewolf but have great double steps and traction is superb. They snap together and just A rock solid design. If I was surrounded by a bunch of thugs I'd be happy to have one of those sticks in my hand put it that way Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Went to the range for a little bit today. Spent some time working with my daughter. She might be ready with the crossbow.I tinkered with my bow a little. I think I'm going to have to sight it in again... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm later than ever this year guys. Work has been so crazy I even had to work today on Labor Day weekend. I guess I'm going to burn a couple days vacay to go get stuff done. A lot to do in a little amount of time Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Alright we got one kill plot in. Going to get hopefully two more of these in. Smack dab in Prime staging areas surrounded by corn and beans. Still have to hang 8 stands and trim lanes. All within month before season . At least on this property the deer are conditioned to UTV's and tractors and a little bit of human activity. Just picked out a date to go put up my tree stands and check my cams. It's a week before I'll be hunting, but I don't really have a choice in the matter. Thankfully it's just 4 stands and they're hang ons so the deer usually aren't bothered by them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
We are in the same boat buddy. I am going to hunt some other places before I come back to this property Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
It is a great spot. We've taken multiple deer from this block of timber. It's high traffic travel in between bedding and food. My hunting buddy just started his concrete biz back up so he bought a new toy . The cool thing is it's big enough to run all the kick a$$ attachments. Brush hog, tiller, deforester are all in the near future but for right now the bucket does pretty good on its own! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I'm sure they might be great. That being said, I remain loyal to the USA brand that has treated me good. I don't like the politics of XOP despite the fact that they are likely a good product. How XOP came to be and is rubs me the wrong way.
I'm not exactly sure what happened between the D'Aquistos and Lone Wolf. But I'm glad there are other good options of cast aluminum stand and climbing sticks. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I'm in Wisconsin so i'm in the same boat as you starting the 16th. I'll be out that weekend sometime. To be totally honest I have a ton on my plate this fall. 2 Kids ages 2 and 5, 10 credits with of college, Working fulltime, but I'm pretty focus and really don't spend anytime doing nothing. I'm also runing a 50k in october.
I don't know anything about the politics or backstory behind them. I just know I'm not as comfortable up high on LW sticks as I used to be. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Checked one of my cameras yesterday. Nothing good so far. Got some pics of a decent bear. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Mainly cereal rye with some oats and chicory around the edges. We didn't even think we would have time so nota whole lot of thought was put into it. Next year will be a whole different ball game Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
