I imagine the editing takes just as long as the hunt! I've thought about getting a setup myself mainly because mine and the guys I hunt with's kids are going to start hunting. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Editing is no doubt very time consuming and my stuff is just for me and very simple. G40 is nice and would be a very nice camera to start with. I had a lesser quality camera that I didn't have a good camera arm for or remote. It made it difficult to get good footage when the camera was bouncing around when I was moving it/ zooming etc. Picking up a g20 or g30 would probably make more sense to start as they are both very capable and you wouldn't tie up as much money trying to figure out if it was your thing or not. So today was the end of an era. My grandfather is giving up hunting at 80 years old. Today i pulled out his stand for him. It was probably a moment i won't forget. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Had to be a bitter sweet moment. It's great that you were able to share your hunting heritage together. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Went out and checked our plot yesterday. The pigs have found it. Plus side though, I may finally get to shoot a hog with my bow. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
80 is a good run. Hope I can hunt that long. I think you should honor him by hunting at least 80 days per year Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Looking into a 72 acre piece in Southern IL. It looks Prime. Surrounded by National forest on all but one side where a small piece of private connects. The private is the sellers additional 140 acres and get this. The buyer gets a 10 yr hunting lease on the 140. So that would be 212 acres exclusive and surrounded by public! Downsides are I don't think utilities would be available which reflects in the price. So it would be strictly hunting piece. Good thing is my uncles place is close so I'd have a place to stay. Idk we will see. It also has a nice size pond and another small water hole on it. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I'm kinda excited about it. It isn't my main big buck hunting property but it is the place I grew up on. I've always wanted to stick a few pigs with my bow. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Today I'm headed to the bigwoods. Gonna check two cameras, put out another, and freshen up some scrapes. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I had a little bit of a break in the rain today, so I went up to my lease to go check the cameras.... Pretty excited about this one pull. Late part of last season, I found ridge coming out of a creek bottom that led to a clear cut. I did some scouting this off-season and found a trail they were using. Last month when I went in, I found an active scrape believe it or not so I decided to put a camera out and see what all was coming. I have about 4-5 bucks coming through along with some does. Pretty excited to find me a shooter in the pics. Btw, this is proof deer do scrapes year round.
Went out to my Archery club this morning to shoot a hunter 3D style shoot today. Today was the first time I picked up my bow since april so I was pretty much assuming anything over 30 or 35 was a **** show. Well lucky me, most of the shots were over 35 yards for some reason so my score wasn't too hot. After I started to warm up, I was okay thankfully. I plan on shooting a lot more before season to get back to how I usually am. Good thing was I started getting a lot better the more I shot so there's hope ill be back to normal soon. Shocker99- You should get the land if you can afford it. Sounds like a great opportunity and land isn't being made so my policy when it comes to land is buy, buy, buy. That is if you can afford it.
I made a run to my cabin on Friday and was able to get my clover plot put in, wanted to try a perennial plot this time. Worked out perfect, had nice cool temps for working and had light steady rain the next two days. Last time I was at the cabin I applied some pre-orbital lure on some old licking branches and to my surprise they had the scrapes opened up this week already. No giants to report yet but they will come, they always do
Well yesterday I spent some time in the woods with my best friend. This is our bigwoods project. It's very tough country to hunt! It's thousands of acres of State DNR managed land consisting of large swamps, clear cuts, and pine/cedar/poplar/birch timber. The area we are going to hunt is roughly a 3 mile walk in. No access for motorized vehicles. Anyway the weather was pretty miserable. Humid, wet, and raining on and off. The woods was pretty much soaked. On top of that the squeeters were out of control! It was like walking through a hive in some areas. Just a miserable day. Our goal was to put out 3 cameras for my buddy, pull one of mine and set out a camera in a new location. A total of five cameras. We were able to get it done which I'm glad. This area might pay off or might be a bust. Time will tell but it's not for the lack of effort!
