Dang that has to suck, but I have to ask why carry an unloaded gun? Then again you can shoot off a horse once, just once.
That was a recipe for trouble, going in the next day to retrieve a kill in bear country without a loaded firearm for protection. That guide should have certainly known better! It's a shame either way.
