Still in shock about this. Not sure why this has hit me so hard. I never meet Greg before, maybe it's just 10 years of reading post on here. Everyone on here have become a extended family and just shows that we care for each other. He will be missed. Alway wanted to make a trip up and see his bar and meet him, but as you all know life gets in the way.

Man, that sucks. I was worried that it was something terrible when he just suddenly stopped posting.
Rest in peace Greg. You'll be missed for sure.

    Fun little story.....

My good buddy Mike (forum member dukemichaels, but doesn't post anymore) once pulled Greg out from being stuck in a ditch using a strap from a Lone Wolf stand as it's all he had in his truck at the time. Mike stopped to help the person who was stuck, not realizing it was Greg at the time. The funny part is, they fought like cats and dogs on the forum and generally seemed to dislike each other online. But, as is often the case, in the real world things were much different. I've always enjoyed that story - two online rivals working together using nothing but a treestand strap as a tow strap. Good stuff.

Perhaps we can also create a memorial thread (get it stickied) for members who have passed.

I am trying to remember but I believe that is me talking with Greg, much of my success is owed to him back in hunting.net days. GTG2008 is one of my best memories.
Yes in person we got along great, in fact, I still have the shirt, was it "meeting old friends for the first time", it's down in the basement.

If you are ever bored go read some of Atlasman and Greg's conversations on big buck hunting.

    RIP Gregh.

Just saw this and I feel like I have been kicked in the stomach. I also go clear back to Huntingnet days and though I never met Greg, I feel like I lost a dear old friend. We had some really good conversations in PM's. He was a class act and a tremendous whitetail hunter. I will miss him.

Rest in peace Mr. Greg Hanson.

What a shame. I remember him as far back as the Hunting.net days. Always a pleasure to converse with here. That photo of him laying beside the buck was classic. RIP to a good dude. Prayers for his family.

For F@*ks sake this day just got really bad. Never met Greg in person but always looked forward to his post, we had a couple conversations about Chevelles. This really blows. R.I.P Greg.

It’s crazy how random strangers come to be this close. Really makes me appreciate this community no matter how different our opinions may be, we are still brothers.

    Hey ya'll...

There are a TON of WI/MN/IL members on here.

Whattya say we have a July BH.com bar hop where we head up to Black River Falls, WI and give Greg a proper send off and help his wife Cynthia out with a big bar tab?

Be a good opportunity for many of us to meet in person for the first time, have some laughs, remember a fellow bowhunter and maybe help his fam out a bit.

If there is enough interest (10 or more hard commits) I don't mind reaching out to his wife via the bar and getting something lined up.

Also willing to car pool with anyone wants to meet in the Chicago area.

I am thinking any weekend in July aside from the 4th.

One thing I would caution on is, is the bar still open.

I know GregH was the proprieter, and his wife is the owner, but since his passing is the bar still going to remain open?

For sure- if I get 10 hard commits from you guys for any weekend in July I will reach out. I just didn't want to bother his wife if it wasn't realistic

Friday to Sunday would be my availability. Saturday being my day of choice. Friday there, Sunday back. 6 hours both ways.
