Hello all, my name is Larry and I am brand new to the idea of archery all together. I love hunting, but have only done so with a firearm. My interest in bow hunting has peaked after PCSing (Permanent Change in Station) to Okinawa, Japan. Firearms are illegal here, and maybe archery too, I haven't checked yet, but I want to carry on with my marksmanship refinement. I am a SSgt, working as an F-15 mechanic in the Air Force. Lastly, my main interest is in the traditional take-down recurve. Please advise.
Welcome aboard. Check with security forces on the legality of bows in Oki. Thank you for your service and enjoy your tour.
Welcome to the site Larry, and as others have said, Thank You for your service A good buddy of mine (Braley) is currently stationed in Okinawa. He’s a Marine Pilot (CH-53E).
Okinawa is an interesting place, and I feel fortunate to have experienced another culture...but I love America and want to go back! haha...but seriously... Is he stationed at Kadena or Foster??
Found out today that it is illegal to possess anything that fires a projectile (with the exception of airsoft and maybe paintball), so it will have to be 4 years of research for when I am state side. I am pretty bummed about it actually.
That's to bad. They tell me Ping Pong is fun for something to do?? Thanks for your service to our Country!
Haha There is plenty to do for fun here, but unfortunately none of it is the type of marksmanship exercise I miss so desperately...
