First of all I'd like to say hello to everyone here. I've been reading the forums here for the last week or so to pick up any useful hunting information I might find. Lots of good tips so far, so thank you all. Now, that brings me to my predicament. This is my first year bowhunting. I'm all practiced up to 30 yards and comfortable to take a shot up to that distance. I didn't want to push it too far past that being my first year and relative inexperience with a bow. That being said I've been hunting for about 8 years now so I'm not a complete noob. My biggest problem so far has been stand location and such. I figured a few here would have some tips to help me out. Here is my situation: 18 acres to hunt on at my parents. Here is the image: The red is my hunting area, roughly. Obviously I'm not going to be hunting next to their house and/or pole barn. The yellow dots are current stands, which were primarily gun hunting spots put up by my dad. I want to throw up a topo for everyone but can't figure out where my boundaries are since I am useless at reading a topo. Anyways, we typically get a SW or W wind. Now my biggest problem is that my current stand location blows my scent across the bigger field, which is annoying. Deer follow the brown line at NIGHT. We hardly see deer during mornings. Trail cam shows dozens of deer in the bigger field each night (the entire field is pretty much a 6 acre food plot of various greens). Problem is they always cross the field each night on their way to bed. We don't see them ever during the morning, and even in the evenings not very often (though my last hunt had 23 doe in the field with me). Where should I be hunting due to these logistical problems? To me this is a terrible hunting property as deer are only there at night, and wind blows towards where they come from. Sorry for making this so long.. I'm just really frustrated and want some answers. Thanks for any insights, and feel free to ask questions!
hunt anywhere along that south edge, thats a natural funnel for deer, that stand on the bottom side looks promising,,,good luck
