Every year when the free agent period opened up Ted was on vacation. Also some players on the D side of the ball went to other teams and thrived.
http://www.espn.com/blog/green-bay-...ange-only-part-of-the-fix-for-packers-defense Just stumbled on this. I know most of you ignore ESPN blogs/columns but it explained it a bit better for me.
I read that and I can not take it serious when talking about the packers D and you do not bring up the one stud the packers have on D Blake Martinez.
I'm about as split on TT as can be. He overall is a conservative GM, some would argue oober conservative. He rarely justifies overspending in FA, which many hate. He lives for the draft, and I'd argue is one of the best GM's at drafting the middle rounds of a draft. Wolfe is going to slide into the GM role I assume and I look to him to be a solid mix of willing to perhaps dabble more in FA, but with TT draft ability and him still around is a great thing as well.
As soon as I heard that Ted was switching roles and would still be with the Packers I knew it was an internal hire, I am not certain that the GM will be Wolf. Word is the guy that negotiated Adams extension is highly regarded. Russ Ball is his name.
TT has done some good things but overall has failed to make this team a contender without Rodgers. Overpaid some people, didn’t pay others who have THRIVED elsewhere (Hayward and Hyde). He had a few nice free agent signings but overall was afraid to dabble at some of the most important positions of need and it showed when the starters went down. Hopefully a new GM is willing to use all facets to help improve our team, not just draft and develop. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I’m excited for some change. Was just reported today that MM signed a 1 year extension during the season. So he isn’t going into next year as a lame duck coach. I assume the new GM has to be on board with MM being the head coach for at least the 2 years now remaining on his contract. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
So... The Packers have replaced or will need to replace the following: Defensive coordinator Inside linebackers coach Defensive line coach Offensive coordinator Quarterbacks coach Receivers coach
Jake once again you are showing your limitations and overall understanding of football. Did a completely new coaching staff hinder the Rams this season? Many other examples of teams thriving after position coach and coordinators are replaced.
The Rams situation does not happen often though. More times than not the team goes through a rough patch before everything smooths over, or it does not smooth over at all. It certainly could happen to the Packers, but there is much reason for concern. You are showing your limitations and overall understanding of football as well if you are the mindset that the team will be fine after 6 coaching changes. I guess the majority of the fans in this thread were begging for changes, and you got them. Help me understand this though. Mike McCarthy was calling the plays yet basically all of the offensive coaches get fired. McCarthy is the problem if you ask me.
Do you think Mike coaches the RBs in picking up blitzes? Receiver routs and blocking? I think you are trying to hard to say the sky is falling in Green Bay. I do believe that Mike should be on the hot seat but I do feel he does deserve to see what he can do under a new GM. One other point you know Mike gave up play calling 2 years ago right?
I could see Edgar Bennet being retained as a position coach....or even same with some others...some folks are just not cut out for overall coordinator jobs.
I would love to see GB offer Kevin Greene the D Coordinator job.....I loved what he did here during his tenure....but it would be first time in the role so could be rough.
