Probably not, this was going to be his last contract in GB, he has two years remaining but would not be back until mid season next year more than likely. They will more than likely cut ties after this year which will gain them 5 million next year and 8 million in 2019 in cap space that they could really use either for a replacement for him or to upgrade other positions if they go with Spriggs or some other young player.
Being a local to my immediate area I hope Spriggs sees huge success but he hasn't shined when given chances, but still extremely young and I LOVED the pick of him. Depending on the Bulaga injury I wouldn't shocked if they cut ties....and if no one signs him, we'd re-sign at a more agreeable 1 or 2 year deal...but I bet someone picks him up and I wish him the best.
He didn' disclose an injury. And it was pretty obvious he had given up once Rodgers got hurt. Plus he said he was going to retire after this year even though he signed a 2 year deal. Now they just need to cut capers loose and finally send senile Ted to the retirement home.
IF the organization was going to make changes and do some overhauling this season has played out to be the perfect timing. Between AR, Bulaga, now Burnett as well all injured....Bennett issue.....this season is not heading to a SB period. Sure you may limp into a playoff game but let's be honest for a moment even IF that occurs all you've done is most likely upgraded Hundley to a trade bait worthy of a 3rd rounder possibly....and removed yourself from the top half of the 1st round in 2018. I say you really start shaking things, IF Dom has ever been thought about terminating internally you do it NOW. IF TT has waivered about retirement you push that NOW. We are full of young skilled guys, but AR is not getting younger but is still plenty capable of a 3-5 years of solid SB pushes if we hone the team around him even more. After the season don't be afraid to do some signings like this year again in FA, all of them were good (albeit Bennett now doesn't look so hot) but do it again, draft well and get a new D coordinator (even if TT stays). PERFECT STORM is now to do these shake ups.
I think it’s time to burn it down and rebuild. We have to pay Adams yet Cobb/Nelson are both top 20 in payroll. The TE situation isn’t good. The Oline has imploded after looking so good last year. The secondary had gotten worse. House is a bust (again) and Clinton-Dix has regressed. We’re spying Matthews too much for 5-7 sacks a season. Dom needs to go. So depressing to see it fall apart so quickly. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Expect Clay, Rodgers, Cobb and Nelson to all renegotiate/extend contracts. They should free up an additional 20 million and cap space, if only Ted would use it to fill needed positions in FA so they can just draft the best players again instead of trying to draft positions.
