I heard a story today about a person that entered a contest and used several people from his families names to enter it also. Then they won a varity of expensive things. But I really do not think that a person of good value would do that. I really think that is a selfish thing to do just to try to win things for free. The raffle that they entered was free and was 1 entry per person so how can someone just sit there and enter their entire family while they have never even been in that place of business?
That would be like BHC giving away a hunting trip and me entering my 4 year old daughter and her name winnig and then I claim the prize and say well she can't go cause she is only 4 so I will go for her.
I just want to know what everyone else thinks and should they be told that they can not have the prize because of what they did?

This world is full of dead-beats, dirt-bags, perverts, cheaters and all around "tools" that just want to get anything they can without putting forth any effort. It sometimes seems like there's an entire generation of parasites out there. There's a severe shortage of honor, respect, integrity and ethics in the world today. All one has to do is turn on the radio while driving to work in the morning to understand that. This example, while definitely irritating, is minor compared to some of the things we hear about every day.

You're right though, Michael. He shouldn't have won and yes, if they know he cheated the system he should be stripped of his winnings.

They are the ones that have to sleep knowing they didn't win a contest in an honorable way. It's not your problem, it's theirs. So many people like this in the world - if someone wanted to win a contest bad enough I suppose you could find a way to win about any contest, if it means that much to you then I say "go for it". Because NO contest means enough to me to cheat or bend the rules to win... I'd like to think I have a life. lol

This is why I love this website, it's full of people after my own heart. In all honesty it's difficult to meet anyone these days who dont try to lie cheat or steel.

It was an adult and 2 of the 3 "winners" are not even old enough to read or write.
My biggest problem with the entire thing is that a friend of mine is the one that had the raffle and is the one that took the money out of their own pocket to give these prizes away.

I know some people may think that I am upset just because they won but a lot of people won things including me it's just the fact of the matter in which this person did things.

And think what's he teaching these younger kids about honesty.

Those are the same people that complain about how the world is always crapping on them. It's called karma.

It all comes back to them.

Sorry to hear about your friend getting jerked around.

I'm not quite sure what % of hunters are truly good people anymore. I'd LIKE to think that most people are honest folks, who do the right thing most of the time, but it's hard to ignore the ignorant sect of our population that lives up to the hype of every possible stereotype.

For example, one of the farms where I hunt, a guy (maybe a mile away) has a couple pet elk. He keeps them inside a fence and they're as happy as magpies. It's kinda nice to sit in my stand and hear that bull elk screaming on a cool October evening. Well, Mr. Elk won't be bugling this fall, because somebody shot him. Classy. They also shot another guy's pony.

Now, I show up to the landowner's place this summer, and I have to watch her practically break down and cry because she doesn't trust some of the local hunters who frequent her farm, and she's afraid to post the property and/or confront them to keep out, because she's afraid of how they might react.

Seriously. I have major problems being associated with a sport that seems to attract the lowest common denominator of human life. Sites like this one give me faith that there are good people out there, but sometimes it's hard to remember that hunting used to be a gentleman's game. It used to be a way of life for good, salt-of-the-earth people. It used to be an affair where good friends and good family overlapped, and respect for other peoples' land and resources was paramount.

Nowadays, I'm just not so sure.

Shooting the elk was low enough, but shooting someone's horse? You know, some people really make you wish that birth control could be retroactive.
