I am as conservative as they come, but if Newt was the nominee for the GOP I would have not voted for him. I would not have voted for obama, but I would have left that one blank. Something about Newt makes my skin crawl.

Newt was the most qualified and by far represents what America needs more than any other candidate.

Its ashame only a select few get to choose who runs for a party in this country. What would be so hard about a national election for the candidates.

Romney sucks, but Obama SUCKS more.:D

Politics will be the downfall of this country. Politicians become corrupt able because of the funds they need to raise to get elected. Then they end up just following the party line. They don't have the balls to standup for what's best for the American public.

Not really about balls, like you said, if they don't follow party lines, they are out. That's what is wrong with the current system.

    1. A failing economy. If you look throughout history many of the greatest civilizations have fallen because they went broke.

Case in point, Rome. Multiple extended costly military engagements, a long recession leading to increased poverty, the inability of the government to pay for basic services and the people's inability to pay basic taxes due to inflated costs of living etc... The problems we face today are not new to civilization and the outcome is usually the same. The wolf is at the door.

What is wrong with America... Sadly, Newt probably is the most qualified!

My grand daddy had a 2nd grade education... was a Dem... was a Coal miner... and an Alabama fan (never could convince him to come into the light.) He would have been more qualified than the whole lot of them.

Agreed. It's going to happen and I think fairly soon as in the next 5 years.

It wasn't merely the economy; there was also a kind of carnival mentality where entertainment became a higher priority than working. Many had an entitlement mentality in which they expected the lower classes to work while the higher classes sucked up the profits. Not much has changed. The only difference now is that we hire the lower classes in other countries to do the work while we ourselves produce very little. Eventually that well dries up.
