If you want to get into a spot I would roundup a path. than going forward, start beating the ivy back with roundup, discing and planting something like oats. Do how ever much area you feel comfortable with each year.

I used to get poison ivy really bad to the point that I had to go to the Dr for prescription treatment, this happened even though I tried to avoid it. I have gotten poison ivy in the winter that should be an indication how sensitive I was to it. I do not get poison ivy anymore have not had to get treatment or had a rash going on 3+ years. I have been using a hgh supplement that has pretty much taken care of the issue.

What is the supplement you've been using? If you don't mind me asking?

Biggest thing to do for ground growing poison ivy is to wear rubber boots, never ever lace-up boots. You kind of touched on that with the mention of wearing hip waders. Wear gloves when climbing your stand, especially when coming back down as each step likely will have some on it to a certain extent. Others mentioned spraying a path to your stand which may not seem practical but it actually may work. Once the leaves are off you can still get it by breaking over stems or branches but it's much less of an issue so mid October you'll be good. I usually get poison ivy every year but with using Dawn soap, rubber boots and gloves I rarely get it. Now poison oak, that's another story. Often I forget what it looks like and just like this year I didn't realize I was in it while hanging no tresspassing signs until it was too late. By too late I mean I had a bad rash within 30 minutes and even after using Dawn I struggled to control it til I got a tube of Zanfel to wash up with. Finally got it under control this week.

Ditto on the building immunity. Friend of mine used to get it bad, same as others here. Swelling, Steroid shots, Skin oozing off. His wife got into Holistic medicine and within a months time she had him Ivy free. He could pull it out barehanded and not get it.

Side note. DO NOT USE THE RESTROOM! until you've washed up or you'll end up like Todd:lol:
Pee your pants if you have too. That embarrassment is way less miserable than getting it somewhere it doesn't belong.
