The only change I want is to be able to keep more of my money after taxes. Seriously, that is all I want.
THE GREATEST myth in American politics today is the view, spread by the Left and much of the news media, that Barack Obama is a moderate, he is not a moderate. In truth he represents an ideology that is barely within the American mainstream as understood over two and a quarter centuries of political experience by either party. The crisis of American politics in our time is a crisis of political deadlock, and it is a deadlock born of the president’s need to push an agenda for which he has no clear national consensus.
sigh... Look, I know I'm not going to change your mind, and trust me, I agree that Obama has very liberal beliefs, but during his Presidency, he has not enacted many liberal ideals. He has acted as a moderate.
O hasn't enacted that many uber liberal policies because he hasn't had the political control to do it with Republicans holding the House. While he had control of both houses of congress he enacted Obamacare...aka socialistcare.
Besides Obama care, which one of the main pieces is a conservative idea, mandates. What has he passed? Obama in his tenure has been pretty much worthless and so has congress.
I disagree with liberal idealism... but I also disagree with the tin foil hats worn by many who vote the same way I do. I never once claimed Obama is making America better, to the contrary I think America is even worse off than when Bush left as a whole... I simply said HE believes his direction is the right path for America. It takes some special strain of paranoia to believe otherwise. I'm fiscally conservative, and socially neutral. I want less government regulation of things, but not to the extremes of many on the right. I mainly care about the government hemorrhaging money so taxes won't have to increase substantially. It will take HUGE budget cuts across the board including military PLUS slight tax increases to ever dig ourselves out of this hole IMO. I don't see it happening until another near collapse of the economy, but hopefully I'm proven wrong.
you actually sound like you would be more libertarian.... I consider myself a conservative /libertarian..
stop using conservative and libertarian in the same sentence conservatives love big government just as much as liberals
I am fiscally conservative and socially libertarian so conservative libertarian fits like or not ... I believe Rand Paul among others identify the same way...
Conservative Libertarian A Conservative Libertarian in the United States is a person that adheres to the constitution as a libertarian does, but will do so in a conservative manner. Conservative Libertarians are conservative in political nature, such as foreign policy, homeland security, and economics while strictly interpreting the constitution as it states. They believe in free rights, liberty, and the opportunity for everyone to make it to the top. Conservative Libertarians leave it up to the individual to determine what is right and wrong for themselves, and leave it up to the states to deal with murder and unjustified actions. Conservative Libertarianism is also a political position that deals with morality and ethical beliefs, based that all men and women are created equal. It is also a political party that does not allow religious beliefs to get in the way of allowing all people (regardless of their background, ethical standpoints, religious standpoints, or sexuality) the promises of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
Devaluing our currency is the only way I see us digging out because we won't be able to stop the entitlements. It just won't happen. Everyone wants stuff that doesn’t affect them to be cut. Nobody is willing to make concessions. So nothing will be done.
Your last line is it. Democrats cater to about 7% population, Union's. Those who give them money Republicans cater to 1% population, Big business. Those who give them money So that leaves 92% bent over and taking it from both parties. Sure they both have their "beliefs" to lure you in, but for 92% they just don't care.
That won't decrease the deficit enough IMO. Cuts will be made and taxes will go up... it's just a matter of where, how much, and most importantly WHEN.
