Had the weekend off and decided to make the best of it with my fiance Tiffany and my best-friend Matt. Did alot of trout fishing (gave up on turkey hunting and at noon today I ate tag soup ) and spent the whole weekend outside. Saturday found me at a local stream (Ryan- ended up fishing the big hole at Little Mo), and I spent most of the day watching trout hitting the surface and trying to figure out how to catch a huge palomino that was swimming around. I ended up catching a few trout and some smallmouth. Sunday I ended up stayin in town and fishin the same stream, the fishing was slow but I took a couple neat photos of Matt fly-fishing. Then in the evening Tiffany and I did a little shooting.... This groundhog made the mistake of steping out and trying to get to the garden, 35 yard head on shot with a Rage broadhead, aimed for the top of his head with my 30 yard pin and ended up splitting the top of his head. And a few of Tiffany shooting her Hoyt RinTec XL, I didn't realize until I looked at the photos but her draw length looks long, gotta get that fixed before season. Today Tiffany and I hit the streams with some nightcrawlers for a little ol' school fishing. The trout were picky today but we each managed to catch a few. The downside is that I spent 5 hours in the bright sun without putting on sunscreen, my arms look like.... I just asked Tiff what my arms look like and the only word she could use to describe them was pain All in all, it was a great weekend and I hope that all of you guys/gals got to spend some great time with family and friends!
Looks like a good time Jason. Did you buddy still have a fly on after that second pic?!?! Looks like it might have sounded like a crackin' whip! :D Cool pics man.
Yea, he had just switched from a elk hair caddis to a black/gold beadhead nymph and was trying to get a feel for it. He was complaining the whole day about his fly rod, its a Fenwick Fenglass and he really doesn't like the feel of it. After using his rod for awhile I can say that I will be sticking with my graphite fly rods, their is too much bend throughout the rod and it makes casting difficult.
