No good food sources on my property, and i refuse to dump a bucket of corn like everyone else. Lose-lose situation.

I have a beautiful 1 acre turnip plot, full of softball size turnips with big juicy leafy tops, glimmering grean above the 15 inches of snow we have, just like you see on tv, just like what the pros hunt on, an absolute late seaosn magnet, and.................................not a track to be found in it :( I need to get out scouting and find where they are at. Last year of turnips for me.

The deer around my place are coming down off of the mountains in the evenings to hit hit our 20+ acres of oats.. and my 9 apple trees at my place.. Yes I still have a ton of apples hanging.. I cant catch them at the field or trees though..they get there WELL after dark, I still have to intercept them on travel routes a good 400-500 yards from the feed.

How bout drop kids at grandmas Friday evening, stay up late with a 12 pack of Yuengling B & T, a fire in the fireplace, home cooking, and some QT with the wifey. SLEEP IN on Saturday.

    The End

Of course if the rain/snow mix shows sign of tapering off Saturday mid-day I could definitely squeeze in an evening hunt.

unless you can set up on some food... look for tracks in snow (if you got it) locate the bedding areas cross your fingers. on a farm? ask the farmer when he/she has been seeing em, time of day etc.

I hunted this last weekend, there were 10 deer by my stand at the end of the corn field. I could not figure out what was going on. Next morning I walked over and figured it out, this is where the combine unload the corn. There was corn everywhere:cool:

This time of year the deer by me are yarded up. So you have to guess correct, because it's all or nothing for the most part.

    Interesting about those food plots.
As the temps turn colder, they will be hitting the food sources. Now we just need to find out which one(s) and when.

After a night in the teens they will be grocery shopping. I just need to be in the right aisle! :)

Our deer don't really yard, but they do tend to travel in bigger groups this time of year. So you're right, you might not see any or you could see a dozen all at once.

No sure fire magic bullets or there wouldn't be any deer.

I'm hoping to catch one coming to my food plots too, but trail cams tell me they are getting there after hours.

This time of year I hunt transition areas. I'm still trying to catch a big guy that is living on the property. I know where he is usually bedding and where he is feeding and have pictures walking by this stand regularly but can't seem to get lucky enough to be there at the right time.
