you get jm on stage with buddy guy and watch what happens, he turns on much like clapton does when he has someone better then him on stage, he can play the blues........ just needs a little push

johnny lang was great before rehab and being saved...:D nothing against it he just changed his hole style

John Fogarty is one guitarist I love to hate.

I hate the fact that he took over full control of CCR and ran the band into the ground all those years ago. His ego and almost "Nazi" type of band leadership, destroyed the band.

But then, I mean, everybody knows all those old Creedence songs. They were classic "roots rock" music that influenced all sorts of genres for years and years.

fogarty has a ego for sure, his management stole every thing he and his band did in the early years, he got no credit for writing the songs or playing.
he was burned so bad he just quit, and takes no buu$hit anymore.

here is some trivia: who was billed as the headliner to "woodstock"
and because the show was being filmed and the artist not being paid for it they refused to be filmed or recorded, you will here no mention of them anywhere...................... CCR. dam i am old.:)

Your right, ultramax. I watched the Austin City Limits with John Mayer.... the kid can play the blues.

Johnny Lang was one of my favorites in the late 90's along with Kenny Wayne. Johnny Lang's "Lie to Me" is a straight up jam. He just kind of fell of the radar and I'm with you... his music sucks now.

John Mayer is a great guitarist. If he did more "waiting on the world to change" type music, I'd own some of his work. Simple melody. Blues licks. What's not to like? I've always been a fan of the Martin 00 and 000's. too.

There are SO MANY great guitarists that get the most out of their craft....that it's unfortunate so many "good" guitarists get too much due. I could make a long list of players in that category (IMO). Some of my favorite guitarists are better known for their studio work (sitting in with various artists). Steely Dan worked almost exclusively this way. You'd be hard-pressed to find two of their famous rifts that were played by the same guy.....and they've had MANY.

    Great threads.

j/m did a blues cd by the name "TRY" and it was way cool, new blues and very good.. but didn't get played on the radio.

as most know what ever song gets called a hit and the record company locks you in to this is your sound and go repeat it.. or else.
