Whitetail Habitat Solutions | Part 1: Phases of the Whitetail Rut (Pre-rut) - Whitetail Habitat Solutions Just wanted to share this great article on the pre-rut from Jeff Sturgis and how cold fronts coming in really pay off. Scoot
Good article although most of my success has been from Nov. 1 til the end of the season. I may have to give some of his suggestions a whirl though.
I appreciate you putting that on here Scoot! I wanted to stop by and say hello to everyone and I look forward to getting on these forums a lot more often! Looks like a great forum....real good activity!
I love that time of year as well, I can only dream of temps like that here in VA. We're still averaging 70+degrees for the highs in October. We usually still see a significant spike in scraping and rubbing the week before Halloween. Once we actually start getting some cold temps(mid Nov) action really picks up...just in time for gun seaso;( Killed a good buck last year right after he bred a doe under my stand. Nov 30 @ 0830, so while the timing may be a little different South I liked the article and definitely watch those fronts.
I really appreciate the feedback guys...and if you like this rut stuff, here is part II, the "Peak-rut " phase: Whitetail Habitat Solutions | Part 2: Phases of the Whitetail Rut (Peak-rut) - Whitetail Habitat Solutions
