Has anyone used any of the newer model Lowrance, DeLorme, or Garmin GPS units that you can load with satellite images and maps for use in the field. Hoping for a little insight before making the investment. Thanks!
Here are two threads I found from prior GPS conversations. http://forums.bowhunting.com/showthread.php?t=8497 http://forums.bowhunting.com/showthread.php?t=7827 I'm sure some of these guys will have an update on how they're liking their particular models.
i've been researching gps units lately and i have narrowed my choices down to 2. the garmin gpsmap 60cx and the delorme pn30 camo. i'm leaning towards the delorme because of the included maps and about $100 less. both get great reviews and it will be a tough choice, but i know one thing, i am getting one of these....
The DeLorme (PN40 is what I use) has the best maps and the Garmin 60csx has the best user interface. For everyday hunting use the Garmin is the go to GPS. For everyday scouting use the DeLorme is king. If I could only use one GPS it would be the Garmin 60csx.
I work at Bass Pro in Springfield, MO and i sell gps units everyday. If I were in the market for a new gps i would go with the Delorme pn-40 or pn-30. It comes with the topo usa and city navigator which is about $220 extra if you get the garmin. That being said garmin is going to be able to have the satellite images as of april, but it is only going to work on the Oregon series.
They come in handy for offshore fishing. Unless you are really going into the wilderness. A compass will usually do it...
