I have been invited to hunt about 300 acres of good hunting ground with a group of 5 other guys. I have hung about 3 stands so far but they already have almost 20 stands put up. I was thinking about getting a gps unit so that I could store all of the different stand locations in it. So when I want to hunt out of one of the other stands I will know exactly where it is ( expecailly in thye dark at 5 am) what gps units are you guys using and how much $$$ are they?

I use a Magellen Xplorist 200... I think it was just under $100 from Walmart.

Taken it up in the Colorado Rockies three years and it performs flawlessly.

One of these days, I'll upgrade to a fancy unit where I can download topos to my screen... but really this basic unit does all I need and would do all you need as well for your purposes.

I just bought a Garmin GPSMap 60CSX, with the 62 series hitting the shelves you should be able to find a good price. Cabelas is already sold out.

I have the 60CX (no s). I have no idea what that means....lol. But, it'll use topos and other maps (I have several STATES loaded into mine) and it displays in color.

    Good luck.

According to Garmin's website the difference is the CSX has an electronic compass and barometric altimeter.
