This may or may not of changed but my biggest problem with this federal healthcare is or was there are many small buisnesses that have already told employees in our area once this takes effect they will no longer provide health care to employees. They would rather pay the penalty and that would leave it up to the individual to now go get insurance on their own. Like I said maybe something about this changed but off the top of my head I know my mother who works as a RN at a nursing home was told this last spring.

I do kind of agree with Cablebob, I think it should be your choice as to what you want to have and not haveta pay a penalty if you don't choose to do what the goverment says is best for you. I know for me personally this will mean I'm gonna haveta start paying out of my pocket for health insurance, pay a penalty, or depend on a government approved insurance. Which no thanks I've seen how the government takes care of the VA I can't imagine how messed up its gonna be when you throw everyone in the mix.

I am fine with removing the mandate, just make it so er's are not forced to provide care for those who just walk in.

If anyone wants to roll the dice, have at it. Please let's put this on drivers Lic, so when you get in an accident we don't have to spend the cash to try and save anyone without insurance.

Lawsuits will go down also, win win

Problem there is that many have the ability to pay without insurance.

Just watched a news item on the early news. They talked about the WIC (Women, Infants, & Children) program shutting down at midnight if the budget is not passed. A woman they interviewed said "We could not have afforded to have 4 children without the help of WIC." ??????!!!!! If you need outside assistance to pay your bills, you cannot afford what you have much less more!!!! She spoke as if she was entitled to have the tax payers pay her way.

Well, it's official, our government sucks!!!!!! All the fat cats on capital hill are sticking it to the American people. They let the government shut down, without even a though of all those that are affected. Hundreds of thousands of government workers are now being furloughed without pay until they can approve a budget. Our government has become a joke, the rest of the world must just be laughing their butts off at us, and our dysfunction.

An example of how they are hurting the little people. My brother dedicated 27 years of his life to military service. He retired as a Master Chief a couple years ago. He now works as a military budget analyst for the Army. He has to go in to work today, and get an official notice of furlough without pay and he will not have a job until the government approves a budget. At least he has a retirement from the Navy to fall back on, most government workers aren't that fortunate.

That is exactly why I cancelled a government contract I had before. Funds got cut and I didn't get paid for work I had done, so I fired them. But, thank God I have my military retirement to fall back on.

Huh? Isn't this about majority rules? Do we need a math refresher course about percentages?

    51% = MAJORITY
    49% = MINORITY
    1.4% = GROSS MINORITY

maybe math is done differently in other parts of the country (which explains why schools in my area are #1 in the nation)

Majority only is OK when it's your side and view, with the Majority:beer:

When this happen 17 years ago, my Dad got back pay for time missed and a nice little vacation.

Honestly lets just keep the military open, let the states take care of the roads and leave the rest shut down. It's all wortless correct?

What my math is sayin' is that less than 5 million people make up the difference between. Which means that 49% believe one way and 51% believe another, meaning that there's only a 1.6% swing in majority. Considering not everyone votes, the actual majority could swing either because of such a small percentage difference.

I would go out on a limb and say that the major majority of conservatives support the NRA, even though they do not financially contribute, which would be the same as saying the majority of black people support the NAACP, even though they don't financially support it. There's even a large percentage of democrats the support the NRA, so your tag line's math doesn't work either.

You could look at it this way as well. The republicans control the house and were voted in by the majority. They are fighting for what their constituents want.

Healthcare was a very small part of the election according to the poll germ posted.

So is the presidential election with the electoral college. Which matches the number of seats.

In this case, ,majority (of those that voted) won out but not necessary to win.

I agree it's fubar but I will take it over all the other systems out there. :)
