Dan we asked because we didn't know if legal and never want to be suspected of wrong doing. Also why we do it is already explained....landowner desires, frustration over dead deer found with antlers/heads only removed (amongst other things that make too long of a list to list)...than there is the desire to keep the integrity of hunting going...by turning blind eye in my opinion you would be the same or worse than the crime you know being comitted.
I agree about what you said a few pages back, not questioning Ty, just the game officers granting permission. I think that's a little head scratcher there since they likely can't use the pictures as evidence in the actual legal matter. I assume they just wanted it for verification. But since they did give permission I think Ty did the right thing, especially since he and the nearby landowner both have time and hunting vested in the deer being poached.
Not at all Dan, it is a thankless job and one which eliminates next to all free time during the times I love hitting the woods and waters. We differ is all on our opinion of how to handle illegal activity. I've dealt with poaching at our homestead, trespassing everywhere and both at this property...heard countless stories from others as well. These problems never go away unless charged and dealt with...if not they only grow. We as hunters (not saying you) have our priorities twisted in that I hear more bickering over what weapons should be legal for hunters to use, the length of seasons we as hunters should get or legal operating deer farms/preserves....when the biggest problem is we as hunters not holding each other accountable and in doing so ensuring every single person that hits the woods is given the same fair chance on every animal they chase. I wasn't raised to fight a wrong doing with wrong doing, but I was taught to fight wrong doing. I think I'm done commenting because Dan you truly are one to need to be right or get others to feel their wrong...I genuinely know I took every step in this entire process carefully. Asked permission because we were unsure of laws. Stayed in communication with the DNR...and now possibly lessons will be learned and at least one person will think twice about doing something illegal which may have a trickle affect to the others he hunts with. Sure I regret my friend had to get roped into it, but don't think my regret means I feel wrong about it, nothing wrong was done at all...it just sucks that sometimes the right thing is about as uncomfortable as the wrong thing or worse. I totally respected him wanting to withhold his buddy's name which is why in order to protect his relationship I'll just have the DNR reach out for the name, then my buddy is protecting in being able to say he had to be honest with authorities...but I figured it out without it coming to that. I have no clue what way this will go, and if he gets charges brought down on him that's good. If he doesn't yet the neighbor's know the DNR and neighbor's are keeping an eye out for illegal activity that's good as well. I have bigger fish to fry than this, like the fact I missed RD by 24 hours....I did more wrong by not skipping out on softball Tuesday night to hunt than I have in this whole process shared in this thread. Peace and good luck this year.
Sounds to me like the mutual friend didn't care about him getting busted, he just didn't want to be the one to rat him out. I think what you're doing is great Ty, and if the guy is guilty, I hope they bust his ***!
Yes, and our definition of turning a blind eye is far different. Funny, I'm the one who said that what you did was perfectly fine, once you stated that it was legal for any Joe Schmoe to run cameras there. But, if you want to get personal, we can do that. I think I'm done commenting to you as well Ty, because you truly are one who sits on a high horse and pretends to do everything perfect. Constantly patting yourself on the back for doing the right thing and keeping the integrity of the sport. Running around playing cop and telling everyone about how awesome of a job you did. Its nauseating, really. Hey, if you enjoy playing PI and chasing the bad guy, have at it.....I'll continue to enjoy the outdoors and keep an eye out for anyone doing wrong, just so I'm not accused of turning a blind eye.
I will only add to this for an apology to Dan I borderlined accused him by stating the right and wrong statement he quoted. That wasn't right to do so because he did state he had nothing against me legally once I clarified the trail cam issue. Only other thing worth stating is I apologize if anyone else views me as one on a high horse. If I come across as such that is wrong of me in a way for sure...perhaps re-evaluation of sharing should occur in future. Mods feel free to shut down thread because I am done with updates.
No need to apologize Ty, I just got tired of you accusing me of this same thing in multiple threads. I enjoy a good debate and have strong beliefs. A lot of people take that as me being a real sarcastic ****. Well, admittedly, I can be, but most people confuse that with me debating my point of view. Good luck killing RD and don't let the negative consume you.....hunting will no longer be enjoyable. Ask me, I've been there.
I hate that song! My 2 year old makes me listen to it every night at least 5 times lol. Idk why Schuls is attacking Dan on this one. I think he kept it very civil. I kind of like his honesty.
I know why. When I was a mod I banned him for swearing a people and calling them names. He sent me a PM and I ignored him. So now, I'm the lunatic *** hole.
Actually has nothing to do with the little ban you did, it has to do with your arrogant "holier than thou" attitude you always throw around here.
You'd swear this was a thread entertained by a bunch of high school kids.... C'mon guys! Get out and slay some deer, and remember, "opinions are like...." Never mind. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Got too many Dans running around here. And soccer Dan my daughter runs around singing it all the time and we have to sing it every day on the way to school! Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
