Got some work done at work today... **updated** Made up some new arrows today at work... CX Heritage 150's, 30", Tru-Flight 5" Shield Cut Feathers, White tracers, Classic Index nocks with nock adapters, 100 grain Brass insert, footed with 1" of aluminum 2216, 5 grain brass washer and tipped with a 150 grain Snuffer.... for a grand total of 601 grains! The business end....
We have some league shooting that just started up last week, and a couple shoots here in the next few weeks, need some arrows as my others are going to be used for rabbits and a pheasant hunt here next week! I need the snow to melt so I can go look for the 4 I lost last week shootin at bunnies! LOL!
Sure is Jeff, the weakest point on an arrow is just behind the insert, with that said I wished I would of made my footing a half inch longer. They are 1" now and are just to the back of the insert! I had my insert shover into my arrow one to many times this year shooting at squirrels and rabbits etc... I just cut those arrows shorter, footed them and turned them into small game arrows. I liked it so much I'm going to do all my arrows this way!Gives me a bit more weight up front as well!
Yeah Jeff, I'll do a little something here tonight or tomorrow morning. It pretty simple from my end, but I explain how I did mine!
Those are really nice Joe. I made an "Ironman" arrow that's footed like that but I put a 3/8 collar on the nock end as well to keep the nock from flying out when hitting rock or an iron deer or pig. I used JB Weld, what did you use?
Jeff, its easier for me to just post this. I followed this to build mine, very easy build along! I couldn't explain it any better than this! http://tradgang.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=074690
I added the pink fur tracers to the white feather tracers, pretty cool to see these fly and hit the target!
