The neighbor said they saw a RATTLE SNAKE on his property last week. Now that throws a whole nother angle into walking around in the woods.

Anybody else got rattle snakes in IL?

Well... not in IL but we gots lots!! It's the copperheads that I worry about more than the rattlers, copperheads don't let you know where they are.

We've always had the copper heads. About the only time I've ever seen them is when I used to help my cousin bale hay. They liked to crawl under the bales out in the fields. Not a fun surprise to find when you pick up a bale!!

I am so glad that I don't have to deal with any snakes where I hunt. Hate those damn things.

Missouri has a pretty healthy population of Pygmy rattlesnakes, though I'll admit I've never seen one.

Honest answer or the P.C. answer about rattlers in IL?

P.C. answer, yes we have them here and I have seen them. Quite an amazing animal.

Honest answer. I've seen 2, killed the first one, and nearly shat all over the second one as I ran away like a little girl.
    :tu:

I live near Vandalia IL, saw both snakes in southern Marion county near Centralia.

A Little snake won't hurt nothing!!!! They're more afraid of you that you are them.....BUT, I'll admit when I almost stepped on one down in TX while in the Army, I certainly mis-stepped a little. But I'll take SNAKES everytime over FIREANTS!!!

Just get yourself some snake gaters and you'll be fine. ;)

At least rattlesnakes give you a warning.
