First off, thanks to everyone here for the help and information. Everyone here is great. so you guys want the story. I first have to say this is my first year hunting here in IL, with that being said this is also my first deer i have shot with my bow and the biggest buck i have ever seen. Sunday the 10th was hot here in central IL 87degrees to be exact. i got into my stand for the afternoon hunt just before 4pm. Nothing and i mean nothing was moving. It came to just before season end for the day and i started to gather my stuff and i prepared my bow to be lowered to the ground. Like always i gave one last look and there he was 12yards out. I had a lot to get done to make the shot. I first needed to nock an arrow (with a 3 blade Grimm Reaper) stand up because the buck came in on my left and I am left handed. I made the shot he was at 11yd, the shot looked to be high but i did not spine him cuz he took off like a rocket. I waited an hour and a half then headed out to track. Now I know I did not get a pass through but I know I got good penetration. I look for first blood for about 2 hours and was ready to call it a night when my girlfriend stumbled upon some blood. From then on it was on! I tracked him for about 400 yd's where I found him in a thick-it of tall grasses. He had to be down for a wile because he had already started to get stiff.
