Congrats on a great buck and mount. He has some great character! That was a quick turnaround on the mount too. Isn't that the buck you shot this past season?
Thers not to much of a story. Sorry for spelling and grammer never was to good at it but here is how it all happend. And sorry in advance for the length it turned out kinda long... My Bro inlaws baby was havin a 1st birthday so we went to Mississippi jus so happens that my other brother inlaw calls and says it season down ther and to being the rifle. Now i like to bowhunt but not got much experience and for sure not to much time and the part of Mississippi we hunting in is cropland so we took the 25-06 as the weapon of choice.. First morning was really bad.. no deer didn see anything.. so that eve i decide to switch stand and go to another farm and seen a bunch of does so luck was a little beter but still no bucks. Now not positive on all the time lines but i passed a buck one morning because i wasn't comfortable with shooting 200+ yards beins id never shot the gun that far, so out to practice we went. Keep in mind wer im feom here in KY thers not to many long shots witch also mean range finder wont go very far and i have small binoculars and this particular deer comes out at dusk and all i can see is a rack and a body so i get the binos and cant see much and my gun scope is stronger then my binos. So i start calling with everything i have and he wont detour at all and finally aftr what seemd like forever he finaly stoped and looked then kept walkin so i repeat bleat calls and grunts until he finally turns and comes running... The problem? Its getting dark and hes coming from 400+- yards away and when i stop bleating or grunting on intervals he STOPS! So im trying to run a bleat can, grunt call, and gun scope in very little light. He got to wer i was comfortable to shoot and i shot.. Now im pumped to beyond belief that i can jus go to another state and sit in a stand wer ther hasn been a deer shot in nine or so years and shoot a BUCK! A BUCK! A BUCK! Wait.. all i seen was a rack and it looked ok but hey whats that matter its a deer right? Wel ya that fine except the endless ribbing and joke making your gonna get from the dad inlaw , bro inlaw and many other people you know and will see in the next few days. Oh well i finally said and climbed out of the stand shaking because after all it a buck and i havent shot one in 2-4 years and i was pumped.. I walked and walked and walked lookin for the deer turns out i shot him at 175 or so yards and when i got ther he was WAY WAY WAY bigger then i had thought he was.. Now i must admit this and im sad to say it but while i was riding the high of the deer at the same time he seemed small to me. Nothin like the deer in all the videos on youtube i seem guys kill i wanted a big deer.. So i wasnt 100% satisfied, witch is horrible of me BUT when i went to the taxidermist the other day and pick it up he was one of the nicest deer hanging on the wall and I realized he was really nice deer...
