Congrats on the new bow, looks like a sweet rig. Be thankful the party hunting violation was pointed out to you here on the Internet , and not in the field by a warden.
Party hunting could never be banned in Wisconsin. How could the deer drivers hunt? Usually 2-3 people put a hole in the deer when shooting at them running. Banning party hunting is never going to happen. Ever
While some saw little more than a squirrel, other hunters like Troy Fabry had a great season. "We got 15 deer opening weekend, there was 17 of us," said Fabry. "We do all deer drive, it seems like the hunters in stands didn't see as many deer." Fabry said the key to his success was the right weather conditions and getting deer moving through the drives. They should make spotlighting legal across country too because it makes killing deer easier...it's awesome!!!! Might as well make trespassing legal while we're at it, it's ridiculous that so many private land owners across the nation provide sanctuary to deer and don't allow public access to those deer...people buy tags they should be able to fill them however they see fit.
Covey it is way different in Northern Wisconsin with land ownership counties own vast areas of land as well as state lands timber company lands national forest land etc. You can do drives on different parcels for days without encountering private property.
I don't care, I just think we should do whatever it takes to make it easier to kill deer because it's fun. Yay.
Gun hunting in Northern Wisconsin is driving deer, it is a hunting heritage vs a tradition. It is the way they hunt, they were taught by their fathers who learned from their fathers. Trust me drive hunting is far from automatic and the odds of shooting a mature buck out of a drive are very small. I am not a fan of it, not defending it, just describing it.
Depends on your regulations. In Minnesota you can party hunt but it has to be either a with just guns or just bows. If you're using a bow you can't party hunt with someone who is using a gun. Or at least that's what I thought I read. I could be wrong but I've never party hunted before. I've thought about it but I've never actually done it before.
This came from the 2015 Minnesota regulation book. I'm not sure about the rules for Wisconsin but to those who say party hunting isn't legal with a bow in Minnesota here you go.
I don't agree with it but that's my personal feeling. As long as they're legal I guess that's their business.
I'm sure when 1-5 shot a deer they quit hunting. That's not how it works. Everyone hints in the group till the group is done hunting. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
