Last Nov 6th 2011. I was out and I seen a bunch of deer but nothing close enough to shoot. So I told myself last Nov 6th was so good I have to go out this Nov 6th. I woke up early and almost didn't get out of bed. I got out in the woods just before sunrise. Around 6:30am. A big fat doe came in from my left 70 yrs going right. She was coming right down the trail that's 20 yrds in front of me. She got to about 40 yrds from being right in front of me. She stopped and put her nose up in the air to smell. She was behind a few trees so I got to full draw when she came out from the trees she went off the trail and away from me but was 25 yrds away. I beeped at her and she wouldn't stop. I thought she didn't hear me so I did it again but much louder, she ignored me. She was walking slow so I shot while she was moving. I hit her just a tad back it was a liver shot. she only ran about 30 yrds up the trail and stopped. She just stood still and I seen blood coming out of her. She bedded down there and I watched her for about 4 mins. Then out of the thick came a 6 pt buck. (never shot a buck with my bow yet) I grabbed my range finder and he was 52 yrds away. I have only practiced up to 40. I used his antlers and poke her. She got up and only ran about 20 more yrds. At this point I was freaking. He wasn't close he was trailing her but like 5 mins. If I would of known she was being followed I would of let her walk. Well he poked her again and she only ran about 5 feet and fell over. He stuck around for about 20 mins. I rattled, I grunted, I even used a doe in a can and he wasn't leaving her. They were about 70 yrds away now. He finally left and I stayed in stand watching her with her head up and wagging her tail for about 45 mins... now it's been about an hour since I shot her and she was still alive. I struggled with if I should sneak out and let her lay or if I should stalk up on her and try to put a 2nd arrow in her. I decided to stalk up on her. I got about 30 yrds from her and lungged her. she died 3 mins later. I now have a tag left to look for a buck only. I can let all does walk and hope there is a nother buck 5 mins behind....
