Looking into buying a safety harness. I am on a very tight budget and looking for best quality to price ratio. I understand you get what you pay for but getting married in Oct. has really put a damper on cash flow. Any suggestions on brands or styles to look at?

I'm in the same boat. I've seen a gorilla and ameristep for $50 at walmart. I'll probably just go with one of these.

I think it's great that you want to practice safe hunting :). Here's my $0.02 on the subject. While I understand you're on a tight budget, consider my last year. Someone on this very forum was nice enough to send me one of the "free" harnesses you get when you buy a stand. I was grateful, and I used it for a good part of the season. It was terribly difficult to get on and off, to adjust, and overall was a PITA.

On black friday my wonderful fiancee bought me a vest style harness. It was discounted, and was 100x better than the one sent to me by a very generous person. I think it cost her $50. I used it for the remainder of the season.

This year, I bought the new HSS (hunter safety systems) Ultra-lite extreme. For me, I wish I would've just started with this harness, as it is far more comfortable for me. It's easier to get on and off than the "free" one. It is also far less restrictive and bulky than the vest one.

I should've just broke down and bought the $120 one from the start. It would've saved me $50 or more. Just something to consider as you're shopping for harnesses :)

I thought the same thing, find a cheap one. But I spent a little more and went with the HSS, no doubt a great move. Easy on/off, comfortable, safe. Great vest!!

Umm, should'nt you be selling all your toys now that your getting married? Spend the money for a vest with quick release buckles. buy it once, buy it right. about $100 will get you a decent set up. remember, your life is depending on that harness.

I just ordered a Muddy harness from Cabela's for $99.99. It gets great reviews and the XL is not $20 more, like most brands are. They are backordered til 9/26. Nothing like waiting til the last minute.

X 3 - just bought this about 2 weeks ago, the thing is fantastic. I haven't used it yet, but can tell that it's a quality product.
