Got convinced to lay down the barrell for once and try the bowhunting, i just did 2 days ago i bought a Fred bear Papa Bear compound Bow. Not really familiar with the bow shot it yesterday for the first time. my big concern is how do i know whats the right draw weight for me on this bow?
If you have to jack the bow up in the air to pull it back then the draw weight is to heavy. I've seen some almost raise the bow above their head just to get it back!
thanks ky i was able to pull without raising it, the guy i got it from said it was set at 70 idk much about this i cant tell you if is true or not i truly wouldnt know till i get to learn more about the sport
If you don't know the draw weight, do you know the length? You might want to find a local shop and try to figure it out. You might have everything wrong.
If you can sit flat on the floor and draw the bow smoothly you are fine. If you don't have a bow shop near by measure your wing span tip to tip and divide by 2.5. That will get you close.. Good luck.
Agreed... if you have to twist and flail it's too much draw weight. The least amount of movement is what your after in the deer stand. You'll also target shoot better when your not tiring yourself by working out while shooting ;-)
