OK ... update for all those interested ... I re-purposed this wagon that was left by the previous owner of our home into a brooder ... I cut a foot off the top to get rid of all the nasty wood and replaced some of the 2x4 supports.... put some river sand in the bottom ....skreeted it with a 2x4 and then wood shavings .... heat lamp .... Picked up first round of chicks this morning .... 12 more to come .... Tomorrow my Bro and I make the coop in part of the barn ... TBC....

So here is the coop progress so far ... The before ... The now .... notice the poop boards and roosts on either side ... there will be a window between them and I am putting a half wall up in the front with hardwore cloth on the top half ....
Made a door out of spare hemlock ... also did some work on the floor inside ... Oh yeah, got 6 more birds yesterday too, for q total of 14 so far ...
The eggs I am having for breakfast are so fresh they were still very warm from the body heat of the hens.
You know if you spent more time working on the chicken coop and less time loitering on here, that coop would get done faster.
I got my first chickens last week. I am starting out with 6. I am ready to finish my coop but it has been raining for a week.
I got 4 barred rock hens and 2 black sex link hens. I will try and get some pics of the coop. I forgot to take a before pic. It is an old kids playhouse that was very rotted. I put a new floor in on friday the rest should be a breeze.
So you've been planing for almost a year for these chickens. And as I understand.... you don't have any yet??? Is that correct or did I miss something? P.S. Why no birds.... are ya' Chicken? Are ya huh. LOL
