Got bored while the girlfriend was working tonight so I thought of doing this. She just bought a new pellet stove that gets delivered tomorrow and thought I would surprise her with a blue stone hearth. The mortar is still drying but I think it came out pretty good. Also going to do a nice wood trim too when it dries. First one I've done what do you guys think????

Looks good. Just an FYI, most insurance companies will require that the walls also be covered with something fire-proof with a dead air space behind. You might want to check prior to installation.

Yup I figured as much. Her father is coming Sunday to do the stove installation. He has done it before and she definitely wouldn't trust me sawing a hole in her wall ha ha.

Cool stuff! I've just started a similar project putting a wood burner back in the Lodge. I'll post up photos when I'm done.

The hearth looks great! We have a pellet furnace, and I've heard nothing but great things about the stoves, regardless they are very efficient, Just use Hardwood pellets, and you'll be set. Did she get a Harmon?

Yup $3k. I said she was nuts and to buy a regular wood stove but she insisted on getting the pellet stove. The only problem now is its in her garage and her father and brother aren't coming to help bring it in the house. Her dad was going to install it, but he cant come for a while now and i go back to massachusetts on friday. I don't know how to install itand the place she bought it from want $400 to do it. Is that a good price???
