Here is a review I did of the Invasion CPX - couldnt see one up here so figured it might be of some interest. These are the specs BowTech Invasion CPX FPS (IBO) 343 Axle-to-Axle 31 1/32″ Mass Weight 3.9 lbs. Brace Height 7″ Draw Lengths 26-30" Draw Weight 50-80# Effective Let-Off 80% Kinetic Energy 91.45 ft-lbs Mine is 70-80lbs. First Impression The very first thing I thought picking this up out of the box was "wow its light" followed by "geez its small and thank f*** they fixed the handle". This is a light bow and the ATA is pretty short compared my recent toys. And the handle is a narrow wooden 2 piece instead of the plasticy thing that was on the Destroyers. The finish is very nice - I dunno what the camo is called but its usual In-Velvet rubberized layer from Bowtech, looks pretty neat. The limbs and cams have that same touch of red that the recent Bowtechs have had. Looks kinda cool. I threw som kit on it to get it ready for tuning, a QAD HD ultra rest G5 sights , G5 peep and an Alpine 8 arrow softlock quivver. Getting the cam timing right was fairly easy but I'd certainly ask the shop (if your considering getting one) to set it to your drawlength, draw weight and to set the cam timing and yoke adjustment. This is cause you need a special limb tip compression bowpress to work on it and it always takes a while of messing about. Shooting it: The draw cycle is aggressive - you take up the full weight early on and it remains there almost until full draw when it falls away fast. There is no hump but its a flat heavy top on the draw. The valley is very short - dont go creeping forward or you will find it ripping either the release aid out of your hand or a tendon out of your shoulder.. haha na its not that bad but it is a short valley so I stay hard against the wall once I've drawn the bow. With the cams tuned correctly the wall is nice and solid. The release is crisp and pretty quiet. Noticeably quieter than the Destroyer 350 but not as quiet as the older Guardian or General centre pivot bows. On the shot, especially if the bow isnt loaded up quivver, stab etc, there is bit of a buzz in the handle, sort of a high frequency vibration. You cant hear it but u can feel it a bit. I put a Bowjax dampner on the string stop and a bowjax dampner on the FLEX roller gaurd. This takes the buzz away nicely. Add on a stabiliser and this is gone altogether - but if you shoot a bare bow you will be able to feel it. After the shot. The bow sits nicely in the hand, no jump forward. The top cam tends to rock backwards towards the shooter after the arrow has gone. This isnt a drastic kick but it doesnt sit dead like the older CP bows used to. I put on a longer stabiliser with an end weight and that balances up the bow better and holds it level after the shot. Speed: I havent had this on the chrono but based on the pin gaps (it is a couple of lbs heavier in draw than my Destroyer 350) its faster with my arrows and draw length. From memory I was getting around 270fps with a 450g arrow from the Destroyer. The Invasion is shooting the same arrows faster tho I cant say by how much or what it would be doing at exactly 70lbs. Sufficient to say it spits them out. General: I like it. Its fast, fairly forgiving, quiet and light. It shoots where I point it which is the main thing as I dont like having to really concentrate on form when hunting. Its also got the option to go up to 80lbs so this is a great bow for me if Im shooting buffalo or wild cattle. I dont normally like short ATA bows but this doesnt feel "short" somehow. Certainly worth a look if your after a bit of new kit this year. anyway thats about it - tho here is a link to a youtube clip of me shooting it next to the Destroyer 350 in case your interested in that. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tNIQ16U92mY cheers benno
I really like this bow, I have shot it alot at the local pro shop, me and the shop just cant get a trades going on my d350 that i bought from them new, Times are tuff and they are not doing any-trades at this time. Great looking bow there i must say.
