I have a moral dilemma. I was out walking around this new area today, and found something quite sad.
It appears I have found someone's pet {Beagle? IDK.} From what I could tell, he was frozen to the ground, and most of the body was gone. I don't know what to do. I searched the area for any collar, but to no avail. I feel bad. There is no way anyone should ever find this. I was at least a mile and some change from the nearest road.
It was in a WMA, but this particular land happens to be 20 something thousand acres. The likes that someone else will find it, are slim. Plus, It was in the thickest stuff I could walk through.

I wanted to see if I could find a collar, and possibly just contact the owner, but I could not find one. Now I am thinking of calling the local animal shelters? I just don't know what to do. Morally, I would want someone to let me know if they found my dog. No matter what condition he was in. But honestly, that is life, and I know some people can not process the fact that it is going to happen when your dog gets out.

    Damn yotes. F'em.

What should I do? Notify DNR? Call shelters? See if they have info on a missing Beagle?
I know this sounds wrong, but I did take a pic. I tried to keep it clean. Since there was little damage to the head area, I tried to get some of the markings around his ears, and what not. I also located the area on a map that I picked up. In case something comes of this.

I feel bad now. What should I do????

Most likely a lost hunting dog...

Me, personally, would just let it be.

Maybe. But, now that I look at the pics, and an aerial view, there is a house close by. maybe half mile?

I live in a rural area that is full of yotes. I lost one dog to them and worry about the rest of them. I heard that one dog get nailed. He was an Italian greyhound, weighed all of 10 lbs. It broke my heart. Sometimes its best to not know. If one of my other dogs ever disappears I'd like to imagine it was adopted by someone that thought it was a stray. I'd like to imagine that even when I know better. And I wouldn't want confirmation of my worst fears.

I was going to stop, but the car behind me did so i kept going, talk about a buzzkill

As the others said, it is sad but probablly best to just forget about. The yote's have been increasing around my area and my moron neighbors are wondering why their cats are starting to disappear. My dogs (Mya, full blooded boxer and Sherlock, box/rottweiler/chow mix) can handle themselves and I wouldn't worry about them if they got loose. They could easily take one or two coyotes out, if it was a large pack then I would be worried. We had a pack about 15 years ago that was circling my collie's pen one night, she actually killed two of them and 3 others got some lead. The next week they got to my neighbors rabbits that were outside.

YEah. I wouldn't worry about my dog either (Wussbull Terrier) He would just hump them until they gave up. I'm just sayin that I would want to know if someone did find him.

I still feel bad for the guy. What a crappy way to go.
