The weather with it's never ending snow falls has been less than desirable for me to get anything done. I haven't had decent weather to even shed hunt these last 4 weekends. However, today I was able to set cameras on my mineral site and my water hole, freshen the mineral site and frost seed my clover plot. I finished just before another flurry of snow. Will it ever be spring?

I know! The GF thought she was going to keep me home this weekend for her mother's surprise 70th birthday party. So I took a day of vacation and came up last night. I'll be going home tomorrow morning in time for the party.

Frost seeding your plot: did you just throw it on the ground or rake it in?

I hear the snow is melting fast but still 4-8" on the ground. We pick up our new puppy Tomorrow so this weekend is out. Maybe next weekend to get my seed down. By the way- is it frost seeding when it's not dropping below freezing anymore? ;-)

I call it frost seeding because that's how I understood it when I read about it. I broadcast the seed on top of the ground/snow and the seed sticks to the soil when the snow/frost melts. That's the plan anyway.

Greg's right. If it drops below freezing several times the freezing and thawing will naturally push the seeds into the ground. If it doesn't drop below freezing anymore (weird spring and we are kinda late with it due to the weather) then it may just sit on top and we may just have to hope for the best.

But deer and other animals should still push some of the seeds in. Also some light rain would help as well.

Looks good. I hope to get something done this weekend too!.

My frost seeding will happen soon. What I do is wait till all the snow is gone, take my lawn thatcher or a fence drag and drag it around the small plot with my atv. My thought is I get rid of the dead stuff, leafs and scuff up the ground a little. Then I broadcast my clover(kinda heavy). Ideally get a rain after that or I can drag it up again.
So far that has been working for me. Going on my 4th year with that plot and this year I will spray for grasses the first time.

Looks good, Greg. I frost seeded some Ladino a few weeks ago and top dressed it with a little Triple 13 I had left. Timed right (and living where you do, you should be good), it definitely works.
