Filled my rifle tag yesterday after 4 long hard days in the woods! Hiked many steep ridges and used my bowhunting skills to bag a good Black Hills buck! Brought this buck to within 50 yards with my grunt call and had to stop him before he got to close!
Awesome deer! I am anticipating a Black Hills hunt one of these years. I need to start buying preference points for the rifle season. Was this on public land?
Yes a million plus acreas of national forest. I was hunting the Jasper burn area by Jewel Cave. If you draw a tag next year for deer or elk, let me know I can recommend some good places to hunt.
I would love that. I need to try an archery hunt out there, too. I just look at the public hunting map and all the land out there seems so intimidating. As for elk, I have only been buying points. I wont start applying for a couple of years until Im out of college.
