seen 16 deer this evening the cool snap has really got them moving shot a pretty good buck at 645 at 60 yards he fell down then jumped back up and headed toward some cut over hopefully i can recover this buck tomorrow evening!!!!!!!!!!
I understand... I would have to seriously think hunting in the evening if I knew I couldn't go the next morning for a recovery. Maybe a midnight recovery is in your best interest??? I would have to say the meat will be bad, if any left at all.....
Temps are cool, I dont think you all have much of a coyote problem in NC, so I don't think waiting until noon or so tomorrow is going to make much of a difference.
Did you find the arrow? How much penetration did it get? Hope you find him Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk 2
This is a good resource. Check it out.... You may want to reconsider. http://www.clemson.edu/extension/hgic/food/food_safety/handling/hgic3516.html
didnt find my arrow but shot him in a big field and it got so dark after i shot thats one reason i didnt want to push him sure hope i find him he fell twice in the field then crossed a creek and headed to some cut over hopefully ill get him!!!!
He's hurting pretty bad to fall like that. Bet he's laying there tomorrow Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk 2
Well im thinking bout heading bout out there in bout a hour this cut over he was heading toward is a BEAST lol i was thinking the whole time when he was running away dont go that way lol i hate cut over
If your not 100% on the shot I would wait till tomorrow ..even if you can't go till later in the day. Don't want to jump him or push him anymore than you have to. Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk 2
Temps are not supposed to get out of the 40's here tomorrow, you're not too far away, I think tomorrow afternoon would be fine. If he fell twice though, he's in trouble. Just keep us updated. Good Luck. I'd be prayin' real hard between now and tomorrow.
I'm just speaking from my past experience ..about ten years ago I shot one ..watched him fall like you. Mine was in the morning, waited 8 hours to try and recover him. He jumped and ran ..blood dried up to just specks.. found him a month later Wished I would have waited till the next day ..he would have still been there Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk 2
I know alot of guys will give you crap for waiting that long but a dead deer today is a dead deer tomorrow. If your uncertain of the shot I would wait. It couldnt hurt to go find your arrow and look at blood tho.
There's a chance It might not of went all the way through shooting that far. Depends too I guess where he hit him and what his arrow/BH/Bow set up Is.
