I was wondering if anyone has any expierence using the GoPro cameras? I can get one for a deal thru my work. Just not sure if it will work very good for hunting.
IMO they do not work well as a primary. They have a very wide field of view. You don't get the up-close shots that you really need to film wildlife. They are great as a secondary view for commentary and such. I like the compact design of the Drift HD and it has comparable video qualities. However the GoPro X2 will hands down beat the Drift HD in low light conditions.
Thanks for the input. I like the idea of a secondary view. I think I'm going to pick one up. I think it will be cool for turkey hunts this spring from inside the blind.
I agree with this post completely! Awesome little camera to get 2nd angles with, not so much intended for your primary camera though. It works great for mounting to your bow/gun as a 2nd angle shot back at the hunter or awesome if positioned right to capture everything you're doing in the blind or treestand. Neat little tool to get creative with... heck, if you do it right you can even position it by your turkey decoys to try and get some UP CLOSE and personal footage of some toms strutting into your set.
