i have a pair of survivor boots that i bought at walmart for $50......ive had them in cold weather(nothing too extreme) probably about 30 degrees at the lowest with only 1 pair of socks and i stay comfortable......and as for waterproof,last year i walked around for hours in pouring rain,even through puddles almost to the top of my boots and never once felt a drop of wetness. not bad for only $50
