In a little more than a year, I will be old enough for a CPL. We are trying to figure out a way for me to carry my Ladysmith, without having to dress up in baggy clothes. I would not hestitate for a millisecond to use it in self-defense. Five shots, center of mass, no more threat. And I would feel no remorse afterwards. It's gonna be tough to conceal that thing though
Yes, that is the case but trust me, the people the state police think have reason enough is a very tiny group and "because you want to" does not fall into that group .
while we are not allowed Concealed Carry in IL doesn't stop me from keepin on on the ready around the house... some day we may get King Richard out of office and the Deputy Mayor of Chicago (aka - The Governor) won't rubber stamp everything little ****ie says...
+1 My brother-in-law (a LEO) has told me about some of the punks on the street, who can hide a tiny little .22 on them - and you'll almost never find it. CCI Stingers are some nasty little buggers when placed center mass! For me, I own a 9mm (CZ 75B -- the european made (Czech Republic) police model, known for it's wicked accuracy). It resembles a Browning Hi Power, Beretta 92, etc... and is a sweet piece. I easily qualified on the range withh it, back when I took that armed security course.
True on all counts, Butch... When I was in Military Police school, one of our instructors pulled me aside out of the audience while we were going through search training... Had me stuff a 1911 down my pants right in front of my crotch, and then they "arbitrarily" picked me out of the crowd to have me searched. The guy doing the searching patted me down and proclaimed me "clean"... he turned around and I pulled the .45 out and stuck it to the back of his head. Obvious point here is that guys don't want to feel another guy up when doing a pat-down, but lives depend on it... I can't imagine how easy it would be to hide a .22 as you described. And I've got a CZ 75 P01 chambered in 9 mm.... that's my home-defense piece and also what I carry in Colorado when working my way through the canyons. Only difference is I take the Hydroshoks out fill my magazines with FMJs so it hopefully won't splatter on a cat's skull if I had to...
We had an incident here in Upstate NY last week. This guy had been into the store several times and was disruptive, threatening etc. He was banned from the store and his right to carry a weapon had been revoked because of the troubles. He walked into the AT and T store the other day with a couple pistols. Shot the first guy he was after in the stomach twice. At that point an off duty cop with his own personnal weapon and concealed carry permit pulled out his gun and killed the guy. The guy was 78 years old. In his pocket they found a list with 6 names on it that he intended to take out. Lucky someone was carrying a weapon or he would have cleaned off his list.
Thanks for making me spit all over my monitor, Christine... :D Too funny! Exactly, David... isn't it funny how they think a sign on a door or something like that can prevent a bad guy from carrying... all it does is remove the potential law-abiding citizen from protecting himself and others from just that scenario you described.
