damn good to be back, been on vacation for 3 weeks. this past week I went to the boundary waters canoeing, camping with the scouts. Talk about a humper. Man I have no business being out there doing that stuff. Here I was dooped into thinking that I would be canoing and fishing in the same lake for a week, not doing some olympic sprint paddling across 40 miles of lakes & portages, w/a 70 # pack, 2 teenage sons, & a 65# 12 long aluminum log called a canoe. damn, just about killed me. But the scenery was amazing. I did catch a few northerns, and walleye that week. But it was nothing like I thought it would be. defiintely have to get in better shape. at 9 pm it was like a switch went of with the mosquitos, holy cow, those things were downright vicious. you either were in your tent or wearing long pants, long sleeved shirt & a head net.
Good for you, I need to make the short drive and get up there. It's one of the most recommended visits in the U.S. before you die believe it or not. Any Moose sightings?
There's a guy named Peter Egan who writes for Cycle World who said that he "never remembered a hotel room but never forgot a campsite" I agree. It also seems the trips that kick your butt the hardest are the most fun to look back on. It sounds like you made some great memories . Hope you post some pics. -Jim
i would like to do that someday, but sounds like I better do it soon as 47 is close on the horizon for me and my somewhat weak back
