As i'm getting ready for this season I can't help but wonder with all the changes I made or been forced into if this will be good. To start I quit my second job when my second son was born. This was a no brainer since I was working 18 hours a day. This should help with some more time in the woods. Then a good hunting friend and care taker of the farm I've hunted the last two seasons passed away. I still have access but the the land owner included my lease in the block he leased to an outfitter. So now the farm will have more pressure then years passed. I have gained access to a 1/4 mile strip of private land that borders a forest preserve that has some giants in it but the whole property is only 70 yards deep. lots of public land i think this year but even that is hard because the closest spot is 70 miles one way. I guess i'll just have to see. I know if there is anywhere its here to get that fire burning again.

    Hey Trek
Don't give up on that 70 acre parcel,Specially when it borders crown land, when the rut comes the deer will be forced into pockets like this from the pressure of the public. Sounds like a honey hole to me,give it a shot and allow the public to push the deer for you to you. Allow the public to drive them onto your parcel for safety!!! Good luck on your up and coming season, and may The Good Lord Bless you for taking more time to be with family.
