Checked my 2013 Red 40 and out of 22 daytime pics 10 were too dark to see anything and three more were on the verge of not being able to see. I did the firmware update that I think was suppose to correct dark pics but it didn't help mine. All the bad pics were between 7:30am to 9:30am.

That is weird! I run a Covert MP60 and I have never had that problem. It could result from not enough light in the timber, but yet there is enough to turn off the LEDs? I wish I could help!

I am interested toi see if it helped mine!! I was having the same problem, brought it home and did the update, and took it back out yesterday. I will be checking it today when I go out hunting.

Not sure what Cam a buddy of mine uses, but he had 78 pics that couldn't have gotten any blacker.
Saw a previous post that hits it on the nose....a sledge hammer...maybe more than once!

Yep, the update didn't work on my Red 40 neither. I have to say, the Coverts take fantastic daytime pics, and pretty good night pictures for an IR Cam. And their customer service is great! But it sure seems like they have a lot of problems with them.

Yes they do! I had three Black 60's and two Red 40's. The only camera thats not been replaced is one of the Red 40's. I use video on all of them now because most day photos are way too dark.

That's what you get when you buy covert. I had tons of problems with my red 40.

I have two covert Black ops that haven't worked correctly since I bought them. My advice would be to get a Bushnell, I have 8 of them and they work flawless for years and years. The Coverts are junk IMO.
