I am chomping at the bit. I just can't wait til they start here. I went out friday and didn't find any. I hope to get out tomorrow.

Nice finds Crick! I have yet to give this shroom hunting a try. Are you trying to be a hand model like that seinfeld episode involving George?
Same here... But it is keeping the ground nice and damp lately. Hopefully that could be a good sign. Do you guys have any good websites to get some tips on hunting shrooms? I have found a couple, but I'm still not sure of where to start looking for these? Field edges? Deep woods? Help?
Try this site, pretty good place, they have forums for separate states and how the action is going! http://www.morels.com/
Just wondering what the big deal about these mushrooms is? I figure ya eat 'em, but I'm not positive Are they nutritious, or do you pop 'em to relive the 70's:d
Jim_IV you dont know what your missing,, they are scrumpchious <<< spelling, i know I find mine in the old strip mine ground around here. They seem to be around where there is a grove of sycamore trees and always on top and the sides of the hills. seems to always be alot of new honeysucle growing in these areas to. If i get around the pine trees, forget it, they dont like the acidy soil from the needles.
Check out those P90X fingers! :d Awesome finds, Dan! What's that one in the upper top left? I don't think I'd had the courage to try to pick it and eat that one...
Here is a good site. Especially for the beginner. http://www.morelmushroomhunting.com/fullspeed.htm They have find reports and a progression map. We should be finding them here tomorrow or Wednesday.
