I'd recommend any of the Dan Brown novels. I've read The Da Vinvi Code, Angels and Demons, Digital Fortress, and Deception Point. Only one of his that I haven't read is the most recent one "The Lost Symbol". I read the autobiography of Red Hot Chili Peppers' lead singer Anthony Kiedis this summer in the book "Scar Tissue", and it was a pretty good read. This past summer I also read a book titled "My Bloody Life", which is a book about an ex Latin King member and the stuff he went through in initiation into the gang and the things he did while in the gang leading up to his departure of the gang. There's a follow-up book on it that I haven't read yet about his life after leaving the gang. That's all I can think of right now though.
My wife told me to read the hunger games, and I never read, but she kept bugging me and I read all 3 books in 3 days. They are very interesting and hard to put down. Another good book is "the girl with the dragon tattoo"
You guys should read "The Shack" by William P Young .... it's about a guy that spends a weekend with god in the woods. He is bitter and guilt ridden over something ... AMAZING book
I like a few different authors that I'd recommend if you like suspense/action type books. Clive Cussler is very good, all of his books have a marine flavor to them. Cussler actually was the former head of NUMA (National Underwater Marine Agency), and has some very interesting spins on his stories. Steven Baldacci and James Patterson also are very good writers that keep you turning the pages, and write suspense/action type books, with a police/FBI/spy flavor to them at some level.
I am bumping this instead of starting a new thread There have been several threads on this subject but they haven't received the responses this one did (sans the Christian book thread)... I am getting this book tomorrow.... I will report back when done..... keep the suggestions coming...
I haven't read any mystery books in a long time, but I'm almost through the Scot Harvarth series by Brad Thor. Good reads. I'm also a big Clancy fan and have 4 or 5 books left in the Jack Ryan series. The Chris Kyle autobiography was a good read Probably sent from a meeting using Tapatalk
Lone Survivor will be done by the weekend... it's that good... Honestly, fiction is easier to read as I know it's not true.... this nonfiction stuff is killing me
So most of you Neanderthals obviously don't read.... Finished the book.... it's absolutely incredible what happened to him. It was miraculous.... or it was over embellished.... I choose to believe it was the hand of God
I can't wait to see the movie. I hope it does the book/story justice. If you're on the kick for non fiction books about the wars in Iraq and Afganistan check out Joker One.
I just placed an order on amazon for three books. They include Lone Survivor and Service: A Navy SEAL at war by Marcus Luttrell, and American Sniper, the autobiography by Chris Kyle.
Just finished American Sniper yesterday. Good Book! Another good book to look at would be Matterhorn by Karl Marlantes
Got about half-way through the the first book this week and I refuse to watch any more of the HBO version until I'm done with the series. The book is much better than I expected.
I know it sounds dumb but I've been googling things like best books to read, books to read before you die, great books for men in their 30's, classic books, must read books, etc...etc. and I think I have found enough reading material to get me through a year (or 10). I am excited to get started though. How many of you read more than one book at a time? I'm keeping one at the office and one at the house but sometimes I just want to stick with one. Starting to remember how much I loved to read before my 20's interrupted ;]
