It's been a quiet afternoon so far, baby fox ran by as well as a dozen turkeys and 3 does at a distance...but the October chill has hit New Jersey and its beautiful out. No luck so far in the early season. Drew back on a doe at about 12 yards opening day but didn't shoot since she was with two young fawns. Only antlers I've seen is a spike on my management list. Farmer harvested the oats that were planted really early then weed killed the whole 300 acre field. First time really hunting without a major food source here, but there are plenty of does to go around. Also, mornings have been borderline brutal here, afternoons is the only time I'm seeing any movement. Anyone else out today or having the same luck I've been having?
saw a decent amount of activity here the first week, but slowed down a lot lately. Good job on passing the doe with fawns, i would do the same
