Well, many of you know I had a bit of a "diving incident" a couple months ago and broke my neck. The break really only affected my left arm as it was a very small fracture, however, after a disc ruptured, I ended up with almost complete loss of function of my left arm, resulting in a need for surgery, and while I've regained SOME of that strength, I'm still not up to par to shoot yet, therefore, I'm going to have to use my crossbow if I want to do some early season hunting, and it may not be until late into the season before I can start shooting again. So as depressing as it may be, I will be a crossgunner for at least part of this season. The good news is, I will be able to hunt though, and that indeed is a blessing considering some of the other options I may have had.

OH, I am so happy that you will be able to hunt this fall. It will help heal your body and more importantly, your mind. Best of luck buddy.

Yeah don't rush it. There is no shame in using a crossbow while you recover. I for one am happy as hell the injured bow hunters are provided this option.

Thanks guys, it's a bit depressing, but at the same time, it's a baby step on my road to recovery. I have a pretty decent Barnett Rhino Quad 340 or something like that. It's a few years old, and I'll be limited to 20-25yd. shots due to it being noisy, but it WILL do the job, and I'll just have to continue working towards getting back to shooting as I was before all of this. God always has a plan and though I'm yet to have this one revealed to me, I'm sure somewhere along the line it's going to become apparent. So I'll be out there at he "butt-crack" of dawn on the opener with my crossbow and maybe even kill my first deer ever with a crossbow, the final legal weapon I haven't yet killed one with here in Ohio. I hope the rest of you guys are blessed with a safe and enjoyable season to remember. Maybe I'll even drag my little 7 yr old out for that first hunt of the year.... :tu:

Crossbow is not a four letter word. Nothing wrong with using one. I had to do the same for a month back in 2000.

Good luck and heal up Doug!

There's a reason it's an option. You won't need it forever. Being in the woods is cathartic also, so it will assist you in your recovery! Best of luck to you.

I'm just glad that YOU're going to be ok...

And this is the perfect place for a crossbow in archery season, in my opinion... injured (truly injured) or elderly.

    Have fun, and good luck!
