Here is a photo tour of the 40 I hunt with my wife. I have a total of 5 acres of food plots. Love doing this stuff!

I put my brassicas in the ground monday. I have a 1 acre plot, as well as four other plots of them ranging in size from 1/4 to 1/2 acre.

After the ground had been worked I spread the Fertilizer!

Then I broadcast the seed using a hand seeder, I prefer this little hand seeder, I spread it with it fully closed. the small crack between spreader door and the spreader lets the small brassica seeds fall through and seed at a perfect rate of around 5 pounds to the acre. [IMG]
After I seeded it I rolled it with the lawn roller, this gets me good seed to soil contact.(not entirely neccessary with brassicas, but i rolled it anyway) [IMG][IMG]

This is what the Egyptian wheat that surrounds my plots looks like, I wnted it to shield the deer from road traffic in hunting season. Also will make the bucks have to enter the plot to look for doe's in the rut.

This is entering the east end of the plot. This is where deer will mostly enter in the evenings and exit in the mornings.

This is what it will look like for the deer as they enter. the dirt will be all brasicas. far end green is 1.5 acre soybean plot
    [IMG]

The brassicas plot is a u shape, the west side of it has 1.5 acres of soybean plot on it. notice the EW blocking road view on west side of the plot.

here is the soybean plot, they are now waist high!
this is looking back east from the soybean plot. the egyptian wheat is creating a pinch point funnel. will be a great ambush point.
    [IMG][IMG]
A few of the kids approve!

Then this is one of my clover plots, seeded this one down this spring. looking great! 1/4 acre of ladino.

Here is my newest project, brought a backhoe in and dug a water hole. used the dirt to build a land bridge through the wet part of the swamp, which will become a deer highway.

Looking great. I enjoy the land management nearly as much as I do the hunting.

Really looks great, you have done some super work there, have lots of fun, get lots of deer in, and good hunting.

That is a great idea to use the Egyptian Wheat to shield the deer from the road, also very nice food plots you have going on.

Great job! Very nice looking plots. Sure wish we could get some rain around here to help ours out. I like the water hole and bridge. Around here that would just look like a big hole in the ground right now lol

    Dan,

These were drilled in. I did a plot for a friend broadcast and rolled twice over and it looks just as good!
